BIG news and more great projects in the works here at PPS. We just got featured in Richmond's own Style Weekly newspaper. Swing on over and check out the article to get in inside peek at who we are and find out a little bit more about what we are up to in VA.

We are hard at work on a few really cool projects here in the studio, some of which can't be discussed unfortunately, but I can mention one we're Jamming on with our app pals over at 8 bit studios in Chicago. PPS is cranking out a bunch of illustrations for a game app they have in the works. Here are a few rough concept sketches below...

Speaking of game apps, The ball keeps rolling on our "Yin the Master of Yo" game with Slaphost games. We got birds and points a- popping, Yoyo's spinning and bouncing all over the place, and fun beats by our super talented friend HOBO Divine at Upside Down Press. Here's a few pics below...

Last but not least, Joseph Ryan is still plugging away at his animated Epic Abraham saga over on Kickstarter, where he posts video updates and behind the scenes footage every week. What are ya waiting for? Swing on over and get an eye and ear full of Epic Awesomeness.

Studio update

So it's July and we are super busy here at Pixel Pirate Studio. We have a lot of fun projects going on. Most of them we can't post until they go live, but trust me when I say it's well worth the wait. The few projects I can speak of are posted here below.
First is our ongoing development of the "Yin the Master of Yo" game app. based on my first self published book (If you haven't picked it up, click on the Buy Now book banner in the right column) We are making a lot of progress and I'm posting the title image to stage One here....

BACK HOME FROM THE EMMYS

What an AMAZING experience it was to be nominated for an Emmy! Although we didn't win in our category (congrats to the Scigirls peeps), we had a lot of fun in LA with our Nickelodeon Fam who walked away with several Emmys for Penguins of Madagascar, Fanboy and Chum Chum, Dora and T.U.F.F. puppy to name a few. We want to thank the whole History and Heritage crew for their colaborative efforts to make these spots a success. We had a blast celebrating that night with Nickelodeon and meeting the absurdly creative fellows behind Yo Gabba Gabba, President of Nickelodeon Brown Johnson, and Eric Robles (creator of Fan Boy and Chum Chum) among many others in attendance. All in all a rewarding experience to encourage us here at Pixel Pirate Studio to push forward with our creativity.

In addition to our Emmy nom, we were also informed that Our History & Heritage Campaign received a Gold Parent’s Choice Award!!

While I await approvals on my current freelance project, I've decided to share with you my first game app in development. Based on my recent book "Yin the Master of Yo", a few friends and I are creating a launching game where my main character throws his yoyo at various objects to clear out the area. Below is a sample layout of the first stage. I'll continue to keep you posted as this project progresses.

This past weekend I had the pleasure of visiting a wonderful local bookstore "bbgb books". A few weeks back they invited me to come in and show kids how to spark their imagination and create their own fun characters. My kids and I had a blast. A lot of children showed up to feast on popcorn, movies and a Pixel Pirate drawing session. I want to thank everyone who attended and bbgb for allowing us to invade their awesome bookstore.

Building The Pixel Pirate Website

While I'm patiently waiting for the new books to arrive, My good friend and I are building the new Pixel Pirate website! Yay! I just wanted to share with you a couple of images that will be used as a backdrop for 2 of the pages. We are really excited about the site and have a lot to offer for our new fans and crewmates. I'll try to post updates as we proceed, but I can't reveal too many surprises.

we finally reached our goal, and then some. I am so so grateful for those who helped contribute. We couldn't have done it without you. I want to thank all of my dear friends, family and those of you who believed in this project as much as we did. It's such a blessing to have people like you in our corner. I am so elated right now. I can't believe we did it! Just to let you know, any additional funds we raise will be used to take our book to conferences and conventions. I will be putting in our print order for the book next week and I will keep posting updates on the process. We really appreciate all of you so much for your help in making this dream come true.

Now that I've put my recent freelance work to bed, I'm focusing on printing my first self published childrens book. The book is completely finished and ready to print. The next step is to raise a little cash to help get this baby off the ground, so I'll soon be setting up pre-orders for the book. In the meantime, take a sneak peak of the 1st 3 spreads.
